Phil Davies: Red2Blue is the most practical framework

We caught up with rugby legend Phil Davies, the former Wales international. Phil has more than 25 years’ experience coaching elite teams including the Cardiff Blues, Scarlets and Worcester Warriors and Leeds Tykes. Phil steered Namibia to consecutive men’s Rugby World Cups in 2015 and 2019. Last year he joined World Rugby as Director of Rugby. He talks to us about his new role and how Red2Blue has helped him throughout his career.

Emily Scarratt: How Red2Blue helps through tough times

Emily Scarratt is perhaps best known as the player who secured England’s 2014 Women’s World Cup triumph with six minutes left in the game. Emily joined Loughborough Lightning in 2019 and was awarded a full-time England contract. She was named World Rugby’s Women’s Player of the Year in November 2019 and became the highest ever Red Roses points scorer in the 2020 Six Nations. Here, Emily talks to us about how Red2Blue has helped her through some challenging moments, including the major injury that kept her off the pitch for months.

Adriana Brownlee is a 22-year-old British mountaineer currently on track to become the youngest female in the world to climb all fourteen 8000m peaks. Adriana relies on Red2Blue techniques to keep her calm during the extreme pressures of being at 8000m in the death zone. Here, she talks about how Red2Blue has helped her through some of the most difficult moments of her career and how she’s passing on the knowledge to help a generation of girls in Nepal.

Ashley Giles on mindset skills: from locker room to boardroom

Cricket legend Ashley Giles talks about how mindset skills have helped him throughout his career as he’s transitioned from player to coach to the boardroom. Ashley played at Warwickshire County Cricket Club throughout his career, and when he retired in 2007, became the club’s director of cricket. He went on to became England’s limited overs Head Coach in 2012 taking charge of the Twenty20 and One Day International teams. Following many successful coaching and management roles, Ashley was appointed as Chief Executive of Worcestershire County Cricket Club earlier this year.

Julie Yarwood is the Chief Learning and Quality Officer for the Shaw Education Trust, a growing Multi-Academy Trust providing education to children of all ages and all abilities. The Shaw Education Trust’s mission is to deliver positive life chances to its students, helping them to overcome barriers and equipping them with the skills that they need to thrive. Prior to joining the Trust, Julie was one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors and prior to that, a secondary headteacher in an Outstanding school. Here, Julie talks to us about how and why they have been implementing Red2Blue across the Trust schools.
